Over the past few years we've had many kayakers ask us "How do we get out to paddle this amazing river without spending a ton of money?". We've listened, and the answer is: The first ever Siang River Festival.
Siang Fest 2009 is a month-long opportunity to paddle your own self-support trip down the epic Siang River, in Arunchal Pradesh, India. Come on out, paddle some big water, drink some Old Monk, and make a movie or write an article about being some of the first people to advocate protection of the Siang River.
Provided you promise to be good kayaking-ambassadors, RiverIndia.com will offer free camping and help to arrange your Restricted Area Permit to visit this beautiful and endangered river in off-limits Arunachal Pradesh, India.
Check out a few kayakers who've already explored some of the Siang: Jackson Kayak in ClearH2OFilms' Hotel Charley 2&3, and Dagger in the documentary "The Last Descent".
Email us if you're interested in joining the group of paddlers coming out!
